Andrew Atkin, Bone Lamp 05, 2023, Upcycled acrylic, plywood, lighting fixture

Acrylic salvaged from a discarded sign, given a new life. The over heated acrylic bubbles as moisture locked in it's walls expands to steam. A new life is given to the dead.

The Bone Garden

Inspired by flowers, bones, fungi, veins, mold, rot, roots and much more I have set out to establish my own unique and formal design language. In developing this language creating and playing with it over the past few years I have come to call it the Bone Garden.
Depending on the colour and composition the lamps, tools and textiles I have created in this language invoke discomfort or curiosity in the viewer. Bone Lamp 05 is a freeze frame of the ephemeral flow of mold over a plum or the sun bleached cancellous bones of a deer in the woods.
