Andrew Atkin, Guardener Anchor 02, 2020, Stoneware

The ceramic Guardener Anchor serves a vital role in the restoration of shoreline ecosystems by securing the roots of both submergent and emergent plants. Deployed in my rewilding efforts aimed at rejuvenating stretches of shoreline depleted of their natural riparian habitat, these anchors play a crucial role in stabilizing soil, preventing erosion, and fostering the growth of native plant species.

The open eyes and mouth allow small fish and vertebrates to seek shelter.

The crown sprouts the foliage of the nymphaea odorata, Wapato and kwutáltxw.
