Stonewear replica of polypropylene seaweed container

In 2017, I began challenging disposable culture using slip cast stoneware by replicated single-use plastics from my daily life.

One of the most compelling pieces to emerge from this process was my reinterpretation of the single-use plastic seaweed container. Through the transformative act of rendering it in ceramic, I sought to elevate its inherent beauty and craftsmanship. In doing so, I aimed to illuminate the often overlooked artistry present in everyday objects, as well as the dichotomy between their ephemeral nature and the enduring qualities of the materials from which they are made.

By imbuing these objects with permanence through the medium of stoneware, I invite viewers to reconsider their relationship with the items that populate their lives. Through subtle shifts in material and context, I strive to provoke contemplation on themes of sustainability, materiality, and the intrinsic value of craftsmanship in our modern world.
